English: Sea captain, licenced master Jānis Drēziņš-Reiks (October 12, 1868 - June 1, 1948) from Riga, Latvia (1899). Born in Latvia (then Russian Empire). From the 19th century he was a long-distance seancaptain on voyages in the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean, including Bombay, Arkhangelsk, Rio de Janeiro. He was the first captain of the sailboat «Rudolfs», captain of the gaffonson «Anna Ottilie», etc. At the beginning of the 20th century he lived in Foye, Senostel Bay, Cornwall, United Kingdom as John Drehsin. Jānis Drēziņš was the supervisor of the Riga, Daugavgrīva and all Daugava estuary lighthouse navigation as official of the Hydrographic Division of the Maritime Department of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia from the First World War (June 26, 1919, on behalf of the then Latvian Provisional Government as the Ministry of Trade and Industry took over navigation from the German occupation) until the end of the Second World War in Riga in 5 December, 1944.
